The Two oF Swords
A TAROT CHAMBER OPERA BASED ON A STORY BY KELLY LUCE
The Two of Swords brings together several artists who have contributed to the arts scene in Austin TX: Kelly Luce, award-winning author, and Mitchener Center fellow; Russell Podgorsek, composer, and Page Stephens, mezzo-soprano, both alums of the Butler School of Music (BSOM); invoke, the Young Professional String Quartet in Residence at BSOM through last year and 2018 Coltman Competition winners; and Rachael Holt, an alum of UT's Art and Art History program. The project brings together artists from three disciplines, all flourishing in Austin's vibrant arts scene (award-winning author Kelly Luce, composer Russell Podgorsek, mezzo-soprano Page Stephens, and the uniquely versatile string quartet invoke), around a tale about relationship violence, art’s ability to empower people, and the process of reading one’s tribulations and solutions into fortune-telling.
