Milongata (2006) 10 min. 24 solo string players Premiered 14 May, 2008 in West Hartford, CT. When I was asked for an arrangement of a tango I wrote, (and in a moment of good judgement) I let the piece develop naturally. The piece came out as obviously much more than an arrangement, mixing a number of musical styles and forms in a large sonata-form-like structure. There is an obvious Astor Piazzolla influence as well as Wagner, Mozart and maybe a little Webern here or there. |
