Artistic Statement:

I. Ownership
The music I write is the music someone plays and someone else listens to. We are all necessary parts of the process with mutual ownership.

II. Comunication
Music is communication: from me, from the performer, from you, to each other. It is a complex interaction with many variables. There is always something lost in handling those variables (at which point our brains fill in the gaps) but that is how meaning is gained.

III. Clarity
I seek a certain level of clarity and a certain level of ambiguity because Nature seems to tell us that balance is a good thing.

IV. Tradition
We are all part of many traditions. They are important in establishing our identities (in and away from music and art). Being part of a tradition is a privilige. For me, being part of a tradition means also making it grow with you; it too is a living thing.
