To me, music involves both the emotions and the intellect. I try to write music that stirs both. An important part of doing that is acknowledging my place in and working within a (number of) cultural tradition(s).

I try to be honest and direct when writing and playing music.

I enjoy what performers bring to "my" music. Their thoughts and perspectives enrich and enliven mine. To me, the composer-performer-audience interaction is a dynamic process that everyone, necessarily, actively participates in.
